#ChiloKids
Because great experiences can imprint the heart of a child for a lifetime.
#ChiloKids needs your support and contributions to enable us to provide monthly planned activities to improve the lives of the homeless families of the Skid Row neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles. 100% of your donation goes directly back into our programs and events.

This is #ChiloKids
It all started in 2011 when Louis Chavez and his three children brought sandwiches to Skid Row, Los Angeles’ most densely populated neighborhood of homeless people. Now, the Chilo Foundation Family is over 500 strong, and expanding the impact of our programs. Besides putting on activities and meals for the homeless children of Skid Row, we are striving to bring 30 children to Disney Land for a fun experience of a lifetime.
Uplifting the Next Generation with Joy
The Chilo Foundation could not exist without the help of generous folks that don’t mind funding amazing field trips for homeless children. Our volunteers are a positive influence and role model to children who are homeless on Skid Row. We believe that these experiences will impact the lives of children by giving them an opportunity to experience fun and make memories outside of their tough living situations.
Close your eyes - imagine your child walking home from school through the tough streets of Skid Row, not fully comprehending why they are the only child in school without a safe place to call home. For both children and their families to deal with challenges such as these, when growing up is already tough, is completely heartbreaking. Our goal is to bring copious joy and patience to an area in Los Angeles that is devoid of love. Your donation will be buying experiences that bring smiles to many children and impacting the lives of all families with the Union Rescue Mission.
The smallest gesture can make a child feel good about themselves and give them their purpose in this world!
#ChiloKids Events
Join us at our next event to help improve the lives of children on Skid Row! Every month, we host events for children and their families at San Julian Park:
Arts and Crafts - 9 to 10AM
Through arts and crafts, children learn to value and appreciate artifacts and images across cultures and times. They get to experience a moment of expression and enhance their creative minds by painting or creating masterpieces together as a family.
Monkey Bars - 10 to 11AM
While our amazing volunteers serve a meal to skidrows individuals experiencing homelessness, the families gather together to eat and play. We partner up the children with one of our volunteers and have the entire family engaged in playing on the monkey bars.
Lunch Time - 11 to 12PM
After some fun together the Chilo Foundation provides the children and their families a hot meal, beverage, and a sweet dessert. Together, we eat and talk about the beautiful children, the parents, and how inspiring they are to us.
Upcoming Field Trips
Your donations help up fund fun field trips to give homeless children and their parents a break from life in Los Angeles. Read more on our upcoming campaigns below.
#ChiloKids Youth Program
Our youth leaders motivate and empower one another with encouragement and support. The experience of homelessness could affect a child negatively and put them at risk for drug abuse or violence. The Chilo Foundation strives to provide positive role models and build a community of youth that can support and guide each other through the process of coping and growing through homelessness. Our Youth Leaders:
Provide safe, caring, and creative environments for youth participants.
Enhance and enrich the lives of children as they become young adults.
Engage parents in actively supporting their own children and youth.
